Why would they ask this? job app - PA

I justfilled out an online job application. I'm not really actively looking, because I have a decent job, but it would be nice to find a job that pays more and offers better benefits. There is never any harm in looking, right?

Well on the application, it asked about 10 different questions regarding PA...

I was kind of disturbed by this....

I have seen questions before about VA and veteran status, because if a employer hires a disabled vet they can receive govt funding. I wonder if those PA questions had something to do with that...

Anyone else ever heard of this??

Because if you are on assitance or have been in like the last 3 months they CAN get a goverment kick back for employing you.

Something along those lines.

But a few of the questions asked about going school.

Like

"Have you received TANF/SNAP benefits while attending post-secondary school for (don't remember the amount) hours a week in the past 6 months?"

Screw that, I wouldn't fill that section out.  I don't want to possibly not get hired because I'm not on PA so they can get a tax credit.

They do it because they get tax credits for hiring people on pa. It also helps to cut down on welfare fraud, when people don't report new or changed income.

I was told put yes even if its a no because the government is trying to get ppl on PA jobs so if jobs hire ppl on PA they get a big tax credit. So jobs look for ppl on PA. Make sense? Lol

This is the first I have seen it, but I am not really actively looking so I am not filling out tons of apps.

They asked questions like

"Have you received TANF in the past 18 months?"

"Are you over the age of 18 but under the age of 40 and you or a member of your immediately family is receiving TANF or SNAP benefits?"

Quoting sarah824:

I've filled out a TON of apps online in the last 12 months and have NEVER seen a single question regarding PA. What kind of questions were they asking?

I have found after years of dealing with government bureaucracy that one branch and or organization has no idea what the other is doing.  For instance Social Security and DPW rarely know if a person has one or the other or both.  I ran into all of this when trying to deal with my mother's case.  Total idiots we have running this country......total idiots!

Yeah, it makes sense, but still not fair and in a way, it's discriminating.  So I have to be direly poor in order to get a job these days?  No thanks.  Some companies are only hiring under these standards for the benefits they will get from it.  I haven't gone to school and busted my ass to build up my resume and skills to only be determined for a job if I'm getting a government handout.
