What about people like myself born with a disability or my husband who worked until he was 31 and had an injury that has permanently disabled him? A village is suppose to take care of their own! Yes there will ALWAYS be people who take advantage of every situation, but that doesn't mean you throw the majority out to fend for themselves just because a handful of people are abusing something. What if something happened to you or your children and you could not take care of them or yourself the way you wanted? You would want help right?!
if i got cut off tomorrow my baby would have probably died she was just hospitalized because she stopped breathing multiple times. my husband bust his ass to provide for us but we cant even afford health insurance. i go without but my kids have medicaid. im a dental student so before you go judging i dont jusit on my ass and collect benefits.
I do beleive alot of people do abuse the system which makes it sad for those who don't. I used to think the same until I had my dd and had to put my pride to the side and apply for PA. I work but it's not enough to make ends meet. I don't receive cash assistance just fs & medical since my job don't offer medical insurance. I pay taxes just like anyone else.I don't get child support since the sperm donar disappereared before I knwew I was prego and I have no clue how to contac ht him. If PA was gone tomorrow I am sure I would struggle but i could possible be ok. Those who look down on those who really need it and use it hope you don't find yourselves in a situation where you may need PA such as losing your job or you husband or bf leaving you to support your kids on your own.
This post is full of a lot of ignorance...
Oh and not everyone 'abuses' the system. Oh and not all pa users have iphones.
I am sorry that you feel this way OP...My DH was jobless for 6 weeks and i worked a Part-time job at the time which paid rent but nothing else, we needed the assistance, it saved us, and as soon as DH found a job we told the OPA and they took us off immediately...I pay my taxes and when i need assistance i should be able to use it! and we have a child otherwise we would have just struggled through it without applying for any assistance but we chose to feed her the way she needed even when we didn't have it and the fruits and veggies went to her as well as the milk and we ate ramen until we had assistance...so until you have been so desperate that you needed help don't post things to make yourself sound better than others its rude
Considering we are getting ready to spend close to a TRILLION dollars on Welfare programs and 100 billion on education ( 9 times LESS than we pay for welfare programs if I used exact numbers) it will go and it will go, soon. This is NOT sustainable, people.
