If you did not nurse your child...

I don't care what your reasons and I don't want a discussion about how you fed your child, right or wrong. Please, no arguments on the merits of BF vs. FF. I simply am looking for insight into the availability of information regarding donated milk.

So, if you did not nurse your child....

Did you consider feeding donated milk? Why or why not? Did you know it was available?

If you did feed donated milk, how long did you give it and where did you obtain it?

Thanks!

Didn't know it was available and even if I had I probably would have still stuck with formula.

No donated milk was/is not an option. I don't trust anyone to give my child their bodily fluids.

only if you get the milk through the milk banks.  but since there is a shortage of milk bank donors a lot of moms seek out private donations and there is no regulation on that.

i know when i donated they asked to see my last prenatal blood work.  i also made a point of having my SON with me when I donated so they could see my child happy healthy and thriving on my milk.

Of course all donaters are screened and tested.

I knew about it and no I wasn't interested. Who knows what the donor(s) do in their spare time. I have other reasons but no reason to post them since this is going to break out into a bash fest.

I pumped for two months with both my children, then switched to formula. I didn't know about donated milk and no one told me. Further, formula was available with WIC and since we were/are low income, it was a cost effective way to feed my baby.

Had I known about it and had it been available to me and had it been affordable, I would have done it. However, it wasn't and I have no regrets. There has never been a single day in my children's lives where I have looked at them and said, 'oh, if only I had breastfed...' It's not even an issue. They're perfect.
