Could You Ever Be a Surrogate Like This CafeMom member?

Stephanie's own parents had fostered children when she was growing up, but she and her husband weren't in a position to do the same. Instead, she decided to help a couple who couldn't carry a child on their own by being their surrogate. And wait until you hear about the delivery - there was a BIG surprise at the birth!

Do you think you could be a surrogate for another couple? Or have any of you been on the donating or receiving end of assisted fertility - donor sperm or eggs?

I was curious and googled it

I could possibly do it, it would be pretty hard to birth a child and hand it over to someone else though.

No, I don't think I could handle the emotions of giving up a baby that I carried and birthed.
I wouldn't donate an egg either....I wouldn't be okay with dh donating sperm.

i think if you want to be a seroget great that is a kind thing to do however i guess i just don't personally fully understand it.  like their is no shortage of babies and children that need parents already in the world if you can't have one and just really want a child why not just adopt it is far cheaper to and you get the option of picking out your child.

the only reason for the seroget thing is the child does not have your same dna what you have to ask is are you looking for a child or and minature copy of yourself.

please this is not ment to offend its just questions i have thought of .

I think they should just foster, foster to adopt, or adopt... but some people have lots of money and feel they can buy a child that is "theirs". And it's easy for these women, who love to give and help, to get sucked into their sob stories as to why they need a baby of their own.

I agree I could never give up a child that I carry, It would be to heart breaking,no money is worth one of my babies. But I rrather be a egg donor, then be a suuogate mother.

I would be a surrogate for someone close...and I'd donate eggs...but I'm too old and I had c-sections.
