I took my boys, ages 3 years and 18 months, to the park today.
While we were there, a woman shows up with a kid, then another woman shows up and sits down at the same table as the first. She also has a kid with her. The kids go off to play on the equipment while the women sit at the table and chat.
I let my boys play for a good amount of time, but it got close to dinner time and we had to head home. I got my 18 month old in the stroller, and tell my three year old we're going in a few minutes. He says okay. A few minutes go by, and I tell him we have to go. He's up on the equipment above my head, and there's a kid a couple feet on each side of him. The one on my right (Zac, my three year old's left) starts yelling nearly in my face as I'm trying to tell Zac it's time to go. This child was on the little bridge thing, so he was lower than Zac.
Anyway, this child is screaming at me about being a bologna sandwich and eating me, and I'm trying to talk to my son, and neither of the women even look up. Okay, whatever. Zac starts thinking we're playing a game, because this kid is shouting at mommy and laughing. So after giving him a chance to come down, I go up on the play equipment to get him. I pick him up and start talking to him about how he needs to listen, how we need to go home and make dinner, etc, and the kid GRABS my sons arm, as I am holding him, and starts JERKING it and shouting for the other kid to help him.
I say, "You need to let go of him, please"
"You need to let go of him, please!"
"You need to let GO of him!"
While this kid is sitting here tugging on my son's arm. He finally let go, after me saying it with increasing pissed-offness about six times.
NOTHING from the women. Who the hell sits there and lets their kid do that? I was so pissed off.
