if you gained more than 30 lbs during your pregnancy
Was your doctor at all concerned?
The most weight that is recommended (by most doctors)ef to gain is approx 35 lbs for women that were underweight prior to becoming pregnant. Average is 25-30 lbs for healthy weight women and 15-20 lbs for overweight women.
Obviously everyone is different, but there are averages and recommendations for a reason. So if you gained more than 30-35 lbs for SINGLE pregnancy (as in ONE fetus), did your doctor say anything about your weight gain?
With my first I gained 27 pounds with my second 28 pounds. I am overweight. The only time he said something was at my 5 week check and somehow gained 9 pounds since the last month. I was shocked since I really wasn't eating any differently. Lots of water and fresh fruits and veggies. However at 6 month check I lost 6 pounds and still did nothing differently. He says it is possible it was water weight. I think I did great with the gain. I had a doctor who took the time to explain things to me. He said do not eat for two. That is a misconception as a tiny little baby does not need that much food. He told me a glass of milk a day extra to what I already ate would be plenty. I followed his instructions and within a month of giving birth lost all my pregnancy weight and an additional 18 pounds.
I will be 38wks on Sunday & I've gained 23lbs...I think I'm doing pretty good. I knew a girl who gained 101lbs...her dr didn't say a word! I was like that is FAR from healthy....
Nope, none of them ever mentioned it but it's probably because I didn't start seeing them until I was 27 weeks.
I gained 85lbs with the first kid, 75 with the second, and 30 with the last. But the first 2 I had gestational diabetes which explains it. And yes, my docs always were concerened.
I gained about 45lbs with my son, and 55 with my DD. My DR never said anything except when I gained 10lbs in one week with my daughter. I've always been a little underweight.
