so next sunday, i am hoping to take Ari on her first beach trip. I know I need to buy a bathing suit, sunscreen, and swimmers. she'll be 10 months old and won't be able to swim in the ocean.

what all can we do while there?

oh, and what did you do with your LOs on their first beach trip?

Take a jogging stroller, umbrella, blankets, chairs and also have a plan in case she takes a nap on the beach (mine used to all the time, LOL).  They are older now and won't stay outta the water.

sand toys, an umbrella for shade, a big blanket, extra towels, baby pwder to remove the sand, water or juice to drink and some snacks. and I would take her in the water.

We brought along a peapod tent, lots of little cups to pour sand in and out of, and lots of stuff to snack on and drink. Don't be surprised if she's scared of the ocean. DD1 was 7mo when we took her to the beach for the 1st time and she screamed in fear when she saw all the water. It's okay to sit in the surf with the baby as long as the water isn't too rough. Two of my kids were born in Hawaii so after a while taking them to the beach was a regular thing! Good Luck!

yep, and I would even take her in a little deeper while you hold her. I took my ds when he was 12-months and he love the water. we played for hours in the shallow water.

Get her a wide brimmed hat or bonnet and a light cover up. Babies can't do sun too long - especially at teh beach, make sure you have an umbrella, change of clothes (or two)

a bucket.

Let her feel the sand (make sure its not too hot) wet sand.. its funny! I loved taking my son to the beach when he was young!

See if the beach you are going to go to have rental umbrellas. They are way better than anything cheap you will buy.
I would get one of the matts that sand falls through so it is easier to keep clean. They also make talc bags that get the sand off skin pretty well. LOTS OF WATER to drink.
A hat for the baby and a sun top to help minimize sun exposure. And sun glasses

Get one of those tiny pools and fill it up with ocean water.  We went to the beach last weekend and it was my baby's first time, he is 7 months.  He loved it.  When my kids are still months old I make sure to have a pretty decent size blanket.  The sand gets in their eyes because they don't know any better.  Sitting on a blanket with a baby is so much easier than constantly sitting in the sand.

Lots and lots and lots of water to stay hydrated.

If you have never put sunscreen on her I would test some now just in case she is allergic. Last thing you want to do is to find that out while you are there.
