when someone visits you at your home **EDIT** ETA, Why I'm asking
and you want to give them some sort of refreshment, do you just bring it to them or do you offer it to them first?
**EDIT**
the reason I'm asking is that apparently in my culture it's rude to offer someone something when they visit. It is said u're just supposed to bring them whatever it is. I only found this out recently. Growing up, my mum would always offer first and that's what I do now.
I know it's my culture but this is completely weird imo. What do you think?

Offer or tell them where the drinks are.

Offer first because then if they don't actually want it they aren't put in an awkward position with it just handed to them.

The people that come to my house are like family, and know when they are here they are welcome to whatever is in the kitchen and they can get it themselves. On the off chance we have a new guest I tell them what we have and ask if they would like a drink.

our friends know where the fridge is and know they can help themselves to what is in the fridge.

Offer what we have so they can pick. I guess if you only have water you could just them that but I would never assume sodas or juices for a person. However if it's coffee I will ask before a person comes over so I have a fresh brew on.
