How much were your labor & delivery medical bills?

Just got my statement from the hospital today after having my soon a little over 2 weeks ago. 

My bill is $4,000 and that's after insurance! Health care cost nowadays are insane! And that's not counting the bill that came for the baby too, that's another $1,000. 

Funny thing is...I work in the health care field and my employer has the shittiest insurance EVER! And they are the biggest health care company in my state, you would think their benefits would be better. 

Oh well. Time to take out my checkbook I guess.

Nothing. And, no it was not state aid, medicaid or whatever its called. But I did not pay out of pocket for my first child and I wont be paying out of pocket for this one either. Our insurance is pretty nice.

My first was $350,000. Medicaid paid it. I don't remember what the second one was.

One I think I paid $250 and the second, I don't believe anything. (by ds2, I had gone up to the next higher medical plan).

My first 3 were around $8,000 each, I believe.

My 4th was $1500 (midwife assisted home birth).

My last 3 were maybe $100 for supplies (friend midwife assisted baby 5; babies 6 & 7 unassisted).

Did you have a csection ? Or natural birth . Is your insurance an 80/20? I am curious because we just found out dh insurance through work is and we are trying to figure out how much to save .

No idea... I don't owe a dime. I don't even remember seeing a bill.

Have no idea and don't really want too. My husband is in the military so its covered and we don't see a bill.
