A while ago when I worked as a clerk in an office this client who came in once a month would always buy us (me and another girl who clerked there) lunch before he left. He'd ask what we would like then go out and buy it.
The other girl would always say ''I don't need the food just give me the money instead.'' I always just felt so embarrassed for her and I think it's so tacky.
Am I wrong or is it tacky for real?

It's being very ungrateful. A simple thank you is all that's needed.
