Ok I have these family friends of ours that I have known for gosh probably 10 years and they have been the ones to watch my kids since my oldest was a baby.
Well yesterday they were watching them (my 3 & 6 year old boys) so I could get some of my school work done. As the day went on I felt terrible as I have been coming down w/ something and since I'm 25 weeks pregnant there isn't much I can take. So I called my mom to see if she would take them over night so I could get a break. I am in full time nursing school and hubby is out of town. Well she couldn't so she said she would call said family friend and ask if they didn't mind (they are a couple). Well of course they were more than happy to.
I woke up this morning feeling lots better, ran to walmart for a few things, called family friend to let them know I would be there soon. He let me know that my youngest hasn't been feeling so good and has thrown up twice since waking up. Well I get there and he was just waking up from a nap, super cranky and feels a little warm. We get home and are sitting there watching cartoons. I finally convinced my little guy that a bath might make him feel a little better. So I was helping him get undressed and I noticed that about 50% of his testicles is all bruised.... that definitely was not there Wednesday night/ Thursday morning. So of course I start freaking out... thinking my worse fears as a parent have come true. So I call my husband and that seems to be the last thing on his mind...he said are you sure he didn't just fall why don't you just call and ask?
Well I calmed down a little and asked my 3 year old who isn't very talkative what happened, if he got a boo boo... nothing. So I asked my 6 year old and he did not know. So I just continued to get them into the bath, then my little guy threw up again :( It was a quick bath, we are now sitting on the couch coloring and watching TV. He feels much better. So I decided to call them I said "Do you know if maybe Lucas hurt himself, fell or something because there is a large bruise in his groin area". & they said "No we have no idea".
I have calmed down alot.... I mean before I was a crying mess. But that is just an odd place for a bruise to me?? I don't know what I should do.
IDK what someone could possibly say that is mean or rude at this point... but hey this is cafemom. So if you haven't anything nice to say please just turn around because I am NOT in the mood.

I really have no clue, but I hope it is nothing...
Yeah I hope so too....I have read so many posts similar to mine and never thought in a million years that I would be in this type of position. But then again I could be overreacting, I would just hate if it were something and I didn't do anything. But then again how could I possibly know? ugh
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions if these were good friends. I would also probably just assume he fell. I wouldn't "do" anything at all.
I would take him to the dr,the fever is what is concerning to me because of the bruising...if the fever wasnt there then I might lean toward him hurting himself (or someone hurting him) but the fever is swaying me to think something elsemight be up..
could you maybe take him to the doctor? maybe their is a way for them to check stuff out......that would have me worried too
Is your 3yo still in diapers?
I'd find it suspicious if he had that type of bruising while still in diapers. His diaper would have to be off for something to knock him that hard there and cause those bruises, don't you think?
I would take him to the doctor's if you feel this incident should be on file somewhere.
If not, then just watch that area and see if your child says anything during playtime with his toys. They play-act a lot of real life.

Just to be on the safe side you need to get him checked out. I pray it's just from a fall but until he's seen you'll always have that thought in your head.
I know that's what I think. As a mom I just do not want to deal with this.... or maybe wrong choice of words. I wish I was not in this position, idk.
Here I am almost an RN.... and I cannot even think straight enough to come up with what I should do. It isn't a life threatening emergency... so is the ER necessary. But is this something a pediatrician handles?

No he isn't in diapers......
I would imagine getting a bruise in that area would be a memorable event whether it be an accident or something else. I would pry for more information from the 3 yr. old. Was there any reaction from him whatsoever when asked?
