Yeah, I was hoping to use the pants fabric I cut off but I do have other fabric I can use

There has to be an online tutorial. Google it. That's how I figure out most of my sewing projects.

In that case you'll want to undo the thicker seam and leave the thinner seam alone in the pieces you cut off.

There the same thickiness when it comes to the seams.
