best way to clean a carseat?

so with the way im cramping, and the fact that im nesting ive decided im taking out all my baby stuff to get it cleaned up and ready for the new little one. i dont think he's going to wait another 5 weeks, and with my first i was already in labor at this time...i want to be as ready as possible just in case.  i took all the cloth parts of the carseat/infant carrier off and put them in the washer with the baby soap. my question is, the actual plastic part of the carseat, whats the best way to clean it? i thought about running the tub and just submerging it in hot water than scrubbing it with soap, but it im not sure if thats the best way to do it. its been in the shed and is pretty gross looking. any ideas ladies?

I just pull them out of.the truck, set them on the driveway, and spray them with vinegar water, and hose them off, sun dried carseats smell amazing:)

I thought you weren't supposed to put the straps in the washer?

Disinfectant wipes then go over it with a soapy wash cloth. I wouldn't submerge it in water.
Have you checked the expiration date? :-)

NOOOOOO!!!  You need to find a certified tech before you ruin your carseat.  I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you are supposed wash the straps with anything but water, nor should you submerge the seat in water.

Our covers can be washed in the washing machine, then line dried. I wipe everything else down with water. Do not soak the straps...spot clean only!

I washed the cover and spot cleaned the straps and took a sponge and some warm water and scrubbed the rest.

Check the car seat group. They will be able to tell you how though

Straps can never be washed in a machine or submersed in water. You should also not dry your cover.
