Huh? My SO is a strange one...

I just chuckled to myself, remembering a conversation I had with my SO one evening while we were laying in bed. We were discussing our views on marriage and he informed me that he feels that I should be the one to propose to him. I laughed, called him a pussy and told him to keep dreaming. He says he wants me to do it because he likes to 'be different.' I'm more old-fashioned, I don't care about being 'different!' Have any of you proposed to your SO's? Is this becoming a popular thing nowadays?? I love hearing/reading proposal stories so feel free to share, regardless of who proposed to who! :)

My DH and I were talking about marriage one night and I said I wanted to marry him. He got down on one knee and took out his hoop earring and propsed to me right then and there. Now before  get flak about him having a hoop earring it was the mid 90's and we were teens, lol. Been married for 16 years this november, couldn't be happier.

So you got a car AND a ring, both at the same time?! Plus a cookie cake?! I think I need to choose my men more wisely...lol...I didn't figure any of them were that nice!

When i graduated high school i told him (months in advance) that i wanted him to buy me a cookie cake for a present. He got me one fake rose :-(. Fast forward to about a year later, he drove me up to his moms (i was about 2 months pregnant with our first) and suprised me with a car, and we test drove it, then when we got back to his moms he made me close my eyes and led me inside where he had "will you marry me" written on a cookie cake and he was holding the ring up. So technically i got engaged to a cookie cake?

My hubby sent me a text after our son (who is biologically only mine but we met while I was pregnant) was born and I think I was stressed with raising a newborn alone I said it was a lot to take on him being with me and he said "no I love you, I want to marry you" then he sent "wow I can't believe I told you that but its true" I said I wanted to and loved him and we got married this past December and he is raising my son with me as his own. He is a saint.

He had gotten a weekend off from work which is very rare. I just thought that his boss was being nice. We had his parents watch our daughters for the night. We drove down to Pittsburgh for what I thought was just a night away from the girls. We had dinner at The Capital Grille and after dessert, he proposed. It was definitely unexpected and he did an excellent job at planning everything. :)

There is nothing weird about a women proposing. I didn't propose, but I brought it up, we had a through talk about it and it ended with him saying "Well, we are officially engaged now, I love you."

Neither one of us really did, unfortunately. He was in Germany with the Army and I was still in TX and we really missed each other. We just kind of agreed it was a good idea to get married over the phone. (I think I was saying how my parents would be very mad at me if I moved in with him when we were not married). Although I wish it would have been more special, I got to pick out my ring which is still my favorite ring after 5+ years and our marriage is great!

My husband proposed. My parents & his mom were at our house visiting & as I was talking to my dad I heard my name & when I turned around he was on one knee, holding our daughter & the ring was on her finger. He asked "will you marry me?" & he put my ring on. I cried like a baby!

We've been married for 2 months. We were only engaged for about 2 months & we planned a wedding in 12 days. My grandmother was dying of cancer & I wanted her to be there so we got married instead of waiting until next year like we first planned.
