First off, I am terribly sorry if I am posting in the wrong place. Still trying to navigate this place so please forgive me. D:
Like the title says, my name is Emily and my amazingly awesome son is named Felix Cain. <3 My husband, Trevor, and I feel extremely lucky to have him. After birth, I found I had a rare abnormality called velamentous insertion of the umbilical cord. Any else here ever experience this? Basically, from what I understand, the cord was inserted in the membrane surrounding the placenta, instead of firmly implanted in the placenta itself. My doctor told me there was a large area of exposed blood vessels which could have ruptured at any time. Had any of my five ultrasounds caught the issue, I would have been given a c-section weeks before my due date. What happened? I went four days overdue (had him April 11th of this year) and had him vaginally. I've been told many pregnancies with this issue end badly, unfortunately. ): I feel like Felix has a reason for being here. Maybe that reason is simply to be my son but you know what? That's perfectly alright in my book. :D
Anyway, here is a picture of my beautiful little guy:
Thanks a lot for looking and sorry again if I messed anything up!
