Hives? Bug bite?

My son has about 4 spots like this on his arm he says his whole arm itches. I'm wondering if it's hives maybe from playing in the grass or bug bites

Looks like hives. Some Benadryl or hydrocortisone cream should help.

I already put hydrocortisone on it I'm thinking I'll give him a dose of benedryl too

It looks like when I get bitten by mosquitos which I am allergic to.
It causes not exactly hives but over-exaggerated looking bites. That's the best way I can describe it. Sorry.

I just don't know how he would get bitten by a mosquito they are not out during the day

While there are more mosquitos out at night, some ar out during they day. Especially if you have a moist place for them to breed anywhere near where you are. That could mean a neighbor's house, a creek, etc.

Also, it may not be a mosquito but some other kind of bug and he had a slight reaction to it. Either way, if it itches, a bit of benadryl won't hurt.
