I have seen more than one person on this site say that they either hit or were about to hit their MIL.

For the record, if I hit my husband's mother, I'm fairly confident he would leave me, or at least be pissed for a very very long time...

How is a woman hitting her MIL any better than a man hitting his MIL?

I have never understood all of the "I'll beat her ass" type stuff (whoever it is directed toward).  The last time I heard anyone saying this in real life, it was while dodging (dodging as in getting out of the way of, the girl wasn't after me) a fight in high school.

Yeah, mine would be packing his stuff to leave me if I hit his mother. I would have to guess that the only exception would be if she endangered our children, and then again maybe not even then. Good thing she and I get along. 

DH and my mom get along wonderfully. Better than she and I do, actually.

Maybe they just said it but not literally do it. I wodnt hit my mil theirs times when I get frustrated and just want to disappear but never would I touch a hair on her I wouldn't like hubby doingthat to my mommy so I wouldn't do it to hers
