If your child refuses to eat what's for dinner do you let him/her with out eating or make something else?

If I know its something he likes he will eat it or be hungry, if its a food he really doesn't like then I will make him something else before hand

I tell her that she does not have to eat it ...however if she is hungry later , that IS what she will be having.

Usually makes her finish her meal right than and there lol.

Or sometimes , she really is full ...puts it in the fridge and eats it later.

My kids must try everything at least once. If they don't like it they get PB&J.

My kids eat what is made. There are only 2 things that I make that 2 of my girls won't eat...my 16 yr old won't eat chicken alfredo and my 12 yr old won't eat sloppy joes. On those nights they will eat a small serving then ask if they can make a sandwich. I don't make these two meals often because I know that they aren't fond of them.

I make dinner. If they don't like what I make...they can have yogurt, bannana, gronola bar or cereal. I won't cook 2 dinners. Sometimes they just don't like what I cook. I will not force them to eat..ever. and I won't let them starve. They are 7&9. They are picky...I'M picky...and would hate to be forced to eat something I didn't like... I have the choice...they do to.

Imo opinion that's how picky eaters are created.

I make things for everyone, and there's usually two or three things as dinner. You know- maybe chicken, rice, salad.

So if they 'don't like something' that week- the change their minds- I keep offering it.

If they only want their salad and milk, fine.

But I keep offering varieties and things they've snubbed in the past. They come around.

My oldest used to love beans, then hate them, now loves them again.

Imo once you shut the door as 'they don't like it' you're the one making it so. You never know if they change tastes. I know I did growing up.

If my daughter refuses to eat dinner and says she's hungry later, she is allowed 4 crackers before bed and that's it. She is 3 so I want SOMETHING in her belly without giving into a second meal for dinner that she will eat. She eats what we serve otherwise she just gets those 4 crackers before bed.

I would make something else. My son has always been a picky eater even at his age now twenty six. I always made what I knew he would eat

I make one meal, they do have the choice of not eating it. They know that if they don't eat what I make, they don't eat until the next meal.
