Buying a car that's not at book value . Would you ???

I'm selling my Blazer getting 9,ooo for it. My mom is wanting to sell me her 1996 chevy cavalier for 5,000 it has 48,000 miles on it. I've been looking and cars going for $7000 they have over 80,000 miles on them.  My husband says she's over pricing it. It's book value is around 3,000.  What would you do ???

I wouldn't pay 5k for a 1996 chevy cavalier. I don't care how many miles or how good of condition it was in.

I would spend $2500 on that car. Honestly. I know she's you mom, but thats not a deal I would make.

No way! You can get a 2007-ish Chevy Aveo with less than 50 k for about $6,000. I just bought one for my sis and they're pretty decent!

It is old. I'd find out what the trade in value of the car is...different than Kelly Blue book, financial companies usr NADA. I would maybe give her that amt, or maybe a little more to help her out.
