OK, six of us are parenting, LOL! Really, I don't mean to be abrasive or judgemental but I cannot understand how this is, as one of the responders in my OP said, is a "not your kid, not your concern" type of thing. I adamantly disagree and I do not understand that.
ETA: It's like seeing a dog wandering in traffic - I find it difficult to look away and "let happen what may". And if a child of a laissez-faire helmeting parent is struck in front of me, I will of course respond to the scene but will have a very hard time biting my tongue if I learn that the parent condoned this.
Additionally, I realize it is not another parent's responsibility to make my job easier, but it DOES hinder my efforts to be a responsible parent when others are being so lackadaisical about safety! I wish parents could at least agree on basic safety issues and support each other!
I do but I understand the moms who say the danger is realitvely small. some kids get seriously injured or even killed in bike accidents by not wearing helmets but it is less than one in a 1000 compared to the number of kids riding bikes... I just would want my baby to be that 1 in a 1000.

Wouldn't, you mean, right? I agree. All it takes is one darn second....why not take that little precaution?
No one around here does. It honestly never even occurred to me. I'm 26 and I never did as a child either and I still do not.
The kids don't ride on the street though, ever. They're 4 and 6. They ride in the driveway or at the park.
Yes. He's almost 7 and he isn't allowed to ride his bike or skateboard with out one. My 2yr old DD wears one too, if she's riding her little ''bike''.

A no brainer for sure.
