See what CafeMoms are saying about saving time this holiday season..
Thought i would update!! He's now had 3 days of Summer school. As of yesterday they still didnt switch him to a math class. I spoke with them in person on tuesday and they told me that they would fix the problem. That it was a minor error they would get it fixed. Well wednesday morning. they still hadnt fixed it. turns out the error is in the computer. Apparently the computer is god and if the computer says he's suppose to be in ELA then they don't know how to fix it. He just kept repeating "But its in the computer" I fought the urge to him him over the head with the computer. I spoke with his Teacher who agrees they are idiots. The teacher is equipped to teach him math. being that there is 4 teachers in the room He is confident he can work with my son on math while the other students are doing ELA. He is scheduled to take the math test in August. their screw up may in fact end up helping him since he'll get alot of one on one with the teacher.
My son just finished the 8th grade. He failed the end of year state Math exam so he has to go to summer school then re take the test in order to be promoted. He was not allowed to graduate with his friends. Okay so Yesterday was his first day of summer school. He comes home to tell me they put him in an English class not a math class. He passed his English -language arts test and he passed the class. He told the guy who gave him his class schedule and his response was he was going to try and fix it. Key word being Try. This was not the first time they screwed up like this. In the beginning of 8th grade they put him in an extended day. this was suppose to give him extra help since he didn't do so good on the math test last year. They put him in an E-L-A extended day. It took months for them to fix it, only to be placed in a math extended day for a short while then they switched him to a Science Extended day. If there is a class he excels at its science. Took several phone calls and 2 visits to get him back into a math extended day. His math teacher last year does not speak English very well. It was broken English at best and her accent was so thick I'm not even sure she could understand herself. I tried to get him removed from her class just so that he could have a teacher he could understand especially since he was having trouble. They wouldn't let me, kept coming up with excuse after excuse and guess who's extended day class he ended up in.
To put me in an even worse mood yesterday. He was not allowed to graduate with his friends. The rules were anyone having to go to summer school could not walk at graduation. So i let it go. Turns out there is at least one student in summer school who was allowed to walk @ graduation. Most of the kids t hat were @ summer school were not allowed to walk but there was at least one student who was. I plan on going over the video to see how many others were allowed to. I can not wait for him to pass this test so that I don't have to deal with them anymore and I pray my younger dd gets into a different middle school when its her turn.
