16month daughter keeps playing with food

Sorry if im posting to much, just trying to keep myself from stressin from a bad break-up. But anyway my daughter plays with her food before she eat it, like banging the spoon in it, squeezing it in her hands, then finally eat it. Have anyone had this problem with a yuong child

It isn't really a problem, it is a developmental marker of the age.  Toddlers become very tactile, and their food is one way to explore that.  She is being pretty normal, and as long as she eventually eats, no big deal.

It's not really a problem. It's normal, she's exploring her world and in that world is food. I would just tell her food isn't for playing and if you're dead set against her not playing with it, take it away.
Personally, I encouraged it, and gave my dd foods that were ok to okay with. She enjoyed every minute of it

I agree w the pp's. She's learning thru her senses. In her lil mind it's squishy & it tastes good. Still too young to learn table manners. Now, if she's throwing it...I'd take it away.

It's normal. My 3 yr old still plays with his food, but hey, as long as he eats it right!?
