Is only having one car a reasonable excuse for not having a job?
My brother and his girlfriend are going to have a baby and are about to not have a place to live. She has basically had a job handed to her in her lap because of me but she won't even think of taking it because they only have one car. I think that is a cop out. I lived with only one car for a while, and you just find a way to make it work. One drops the other off, or someone takes a cab. You do what you have to do in order to make money and provide for their soon to be baby. Am I wrong in thinking this way? Is this really a valid excuse or is she like I'm thinking just lazy and doesn't want to work?!
FYI_ They would work in the same town, only about 1-2 miles from each other. She would work a basic 8-5, he works retail so his schedule can vary.
Who cares why she isnt/doesn't want to work . A job is not requirement, of life.
in all fairness I wouldn't ride with a stranger either

I agree with you. I helped a friend too get a job and then she came up with every excuse she could including that they only had one car. I even found someone to drive her to and from work. All she had to do was pay for gas every other week. She then said that she was not comfortable riding with a stranger. I gave up. I was so pissed. Not only did I "get" her a job and a ride...she then asked to borrow money. Nope...DONE with her. I can not help those who do not want to work and prefer hand outs. SMH

I feel like if she wants it to work bad enough they can make it work. She doesn't even seem to want to try to work.

I find it as an excuse not to work. They could take turns dropping each other off, take a cab, bus or carpool or even walk if the job is close enough.

I wouldn't either but in this case she had asked me to ask this person for her. I told her a coworker lived on her street. I did and worked it out where she would be responsible for helping pay for the gas. In all honesty it worked out for the best. Hind sight she would have made me look bad for making a recommendation and getting her this job. After this experience we no longer keep in touch.

if she kept whining to me about money id tell her to stuff it! i would say i tried to help you didnt want to take the job, so im tired of hearing you complain about it if your not willing to try. I had to say something like this to my sister recently because she always want to go have a summer vacation somewhere fun and i tell her she can join us on our trip so both of our families get together she always complains about not having money and i basicly told her to stuff it and keep out of the mall and save the money and dont whine to me about it. but of course she still shops and ends up not going on vacation with the family because she cant save enough.
