I had it inserted this afternoon and I'm curious if its going to hurt at all.  My doctor numbed me up really good and I didn't feel it go in at all.  It's midnight and no pain at all right now.  I was just wondering if the pain will come later so I can prepare myself for it.  Also, if you have one, how long did the doctor say to use a back up birth control?  I forgot to ask her today and I can't find anything online.

I'd ask your doctor about all of that. You should be able to call and at least get that info from her nurse. :)

I didn't have any pain with it.  It was a little tender the first week (don't let your baby grab it!!) but that was it!

Back up birth control for the first month then you're good.  We didn't use any other preventative measures after the first month and I didn't even have a pregnancy scare.

Mine was sore for about a week and now I don't notice it at all. The doctor told me to use back up birth control for the first week.

I did but they haven't called back yet.  And her receptionist is so scatterbrained lord knows when she will.

My DD had slight discomfort for about a day...good bruise, too. They told us if it is inserted during your period, no back up birth control is needed.

That would be nice, I'm on like day four.  It feels a little bruised but I haven't looked at it yet, still have the bandage on.

My doc says it starts working right awat, but I waited a couple days to have sex anyways lol.  And it ached a little bit for a couple days, not bad, I went to work right after they put it in.  I've had it for two years with no problems except sometimes I get an itchy hive at the injection site.
