Let's talk backpacks...

My oldest starts kindergarten this year. We got her school supply list and it's shockingly small! So, I'm debating on whether we should go for the gusto and spend decent money on a backpack and hope it lasts (I hear Land's End ones last for a while) or if we should go with an inexpensive one from Target or wherever.

I'm a newbie at this, so any advice is welcome and appreciated!

I haven't had to buy backpacks in a few years, but this year they don't have lockers(not sure why). So backpacks here we come!! I have a green jansports one that I have had since my sophomore year! Which sadly was 15 years ago....so I think that's the way we are going to go.

Do you remember what brand it was?

I bought my daughter a $10 backpack at the start of 1st grade. She is going into 4th grade and it is still in perfect shape.

I just got my DD a Monster High bagpack with matching lunch box for 18 bucks at Target. She LOVES IT. It will do just fine for the school year.

L.L. Bean is great. My kids backpacks have lasted for years. Mind you they are rough with them too. It's a great backpack, we've tried different ones and so far L.L. Bean is the best.

I bought one from Target that my daughter liked. I'm not going to be there to remind her to take care of it so I didn't want to get something too expensive. Mine is also starting kindergarten,

We bought a $4 one for her for preschool...the thing barely survived that light use :/

I got one for $4 from target cause I know he is gonna drag it on the ground, throw it, etc.

Not.worth the money to me yet to spend $$ on a good backpack.

So far, we've just gotten cheaper ones every year.  Their tastes change:  Dora for pre-k, light up heart one for kindergarten, iCarly in 1st grade.  At some point, we'll need sturdier backpacks and will move in to the pricier, better made ones that might last longer.

I get their e-mails! I got the backpack mailing which is what prompted this, lol!

Quoting Cafe Amanda:

I personally love Land's End and they guarantee their products - any issues (parts break, they wear out) and you can return them without a hassle. Their bags are great! Sign up for their sale emails - often they do good discounts and free shipping, or you can shop in-store at Sears.
