Its falling off! (icky picture)

My son accidentally slammed his fingers in the door a few weeks ago, I noticed one was turning white & we've been waiting for it to fall off. Right now its just barely hanging on.

As long as it isn't infected is it okay to just leave it be? Should his doctor clip it off, or just let it make its way off?

Sorry, never really had to deal much with losing a nail before.

Let it fall off on his own. Allan fractured the tip of his finger last year and the nail fell off also. It just so happened that it fell off at school on his first day of preschool! LOL. I kept a bandaid over it, but eventually the nail grew back.

Now the nail is a lot harder than all his other ones. When I clip his fingernails that one nail is really hard LOL.

Aw, poor Allan. What a way to start Pre-School, eh?

It's fine to leave it just be careful that there are no edges that might get caught and rip the nail off. If there are any such edges you can either use a nail clipper to trim them short or put a Band-Aid over it.

It was a little embarrassing because he told his teacher that his daddy had "slammed him into the door." What happened is that we came home from VBS and Allan ran in on his dad who was in the bathroom. DH had no idea who it was because he had been home alone, so his instinct was to slam shut the door :(

It was an accident but DH felt soooo bad about it.

Awww. :(

I accidentally got his fingers in the car door about a month or two before this happened. But luckily none of them fell off then. But I sympathise with your husband. I felt soooo bad!
