DS is starting kindergarten in sept. His whole life we have not gone over board with buying him clothes. He has always only had a handful of shirts and pants at a time. I get a couple shirts or pants when they are on sale when he starts to grow out of what he already has. The only time he had more was probably his first year from all the clothes I got at my baby shower and other people gave him. I just hate the idea of buying a ton of clothes that will only fit him for a few months at most (with the way he's grown lately). So I just started buying him a few things to start off. He has a few pairs of shorts (which it isn't always hot enough here, especially in the mornings), 3 pants, and a lot of his shirts still fit him. He also has 2 pairs of shoes, which he'll probably need another pair by xmas. I'm thinking 2-3 more pants, and a couple shirts and he should be good.
I just read a article that the average parent spends $500 per kid on school clothes and supplies. Holy hell... How do you do that??? Granted, I dont have to worry about supplies because his school just has a $20 fee, but still. $500 on clothes for a kid that will grow out of them or wear them out in a few months. When I was in school my mom got me a few pairs of pants, shirts and a couple other things. Then I would get more clothes for christmas and birthday.
How to you go school clothes shopping for your kids?
I dont think I spend 500 per kid. Kindergarten kids dont need that many supplies. If you factor in like 10/15 shirts, socks, shoes. pants, supplies, hair cut. Ect. Maybe I can see that. I see more like 300. Go online and check out the clearance. I got my son 4 shirts from A&F straight from the A&F kids for under 50 total.
Wow, thats some good shopping. Nice job. Thats how much I got for school clothes shopping when I got older. I had to spend wisely and if I wanted more, I had to earn it.

I buy my kids 5 new outfits before school starts. Then they get 5 more at Christmas. That's it. Supplies cost around $30. On two children, I spend about $100.
My daughter is starting kindergarten next wendesday and probably will not have to wear the same thing twice for months, lol.I've always bought ahead from Clearance, and any other time I see a great deal so she already had a ton of stuff put away that is perfect for this school year and then we bought a few outfits she absolutely HAD to have. With letting her pick the "perfect" backpack and lunch box and new headbands and other accessories we spent no more than $50.
$50 for 4 shirts??? Yikes. Thats a lot for me. I spent $13 on 3 at walmart. Most of the shirts I get him are $5, and I found some plain colored ones for $2 clearance. I dont even know what A&F is.

His shirts are $11 ea from the school. So I'll be buying him 5. I'll buy him only shorts for right now. Maybe 4 or 5 pairs. (he can only wear navy blue pants) that's another $50. He has quite a bit on his supply list but I'm sure that won't be more than $50... Idk lol
I couldn't imagine spending $500!!
