Women and Honor

I am currently going back to school and I had to read an essay for my english class. It was called Women and Honor: Some Notes on Lying by Adrienne Rich. It got me thinking about how at times we lie to ourselves and to others. So I was wondering what are your thought about honor and lying? And would you have a problem  with me sharing some of your thoughts with my class. Thanks

I'm a real cynic with this kind of stuff. I doubt there is much honor left in anyone or anything these days....stuff is just too complicated...people are complicated...old needs and wants....and needs and wants which are created on a daily baisis are also complicated. People that are really honorable are often(but not always) wackos too ...meh

I have no problem with you using (or not using) my thoughts...

As a Christian woman, I adhere to the Word of God. It teaches us in the letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Ephesis (The book of Ephessians) chapter 4, verse 8...

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
(New Living Translation (©2007))

Many other places also speak to character, and some even directly to the character of a woman.

I memorize these passages so that when I am tempted to go against the statutes of God, I can call them to memory and be strong.

Do I fall short? Ever single day, many times. Does that excuse me from trying? No. Does it mean I am honorable or dishonorable? Only God knows and will tell me when I see Him face to face.
