OK my son is a yr old n has never had diaper rash. Well two days ago he got diaper rash real bad n I haven't been able to give him a bath cuz he cries. So I washed him wit a cloth. See recently I was told by my Dr to switch him to whole milk even tho my son did drink 2% milk every once in awhile. Well three days ago we finally got him totally off formula n all onto whole milk n his normal foods now all a sudden he's pooping so many times a day he's got a horrible diaper rash cuz of it. I've tried baby powdering it I've tried putting lots of butt cream on n ill admit when he goes to bed n wakes up it looks almost all gone but as soon as the first poop its bk again. I've called his pedestrian but no phone call bk. Wut can I do? Help me please.

Update: I'm pleased to say I cut down on the whole milk like I thought n today my son has slowed down on the pooping n the diaper rash has subsided. Tonite he was able to get his tub like he looks forward to everyday. He smiled, laughed, n splashed like crazy the second he realized it didn't burn no more. Happy baby equals a happy momma. Thanks ladies.

I am so sorry and this is so scary, I know.  Could be a number of things.  I would first try to handle one thing at a time.  I would put him on water, for a bit.  I would gradually bring things back in and give it time to see if any changes, good or bad, as you bring things in.  I know you dont want him to go straight fro going alot to not going.  as for food, I would try to take away fruity things for a bit.  as for his rash, be sure to let air get to it, and keep him clean as much as you can.  there are ointments of course like A & D and so on.  Not sure, cause they all are different with each person.  They also have some bottom pastes that sometimes work better than the greasy ointments.  maybe a bath in baking soda.  I will be checking to see how things are going.

You may have to change him more often since you are going to whole food and non formula milk.

Also, let him air dry a little. My nephew has a skin condition and my sister was told not to put him directly into a pamper after she changed him.

Are you using the same name brand of pampers?

make sure you're not giving him anything with tap water..everything boiled or from store in a gallon/bottled. Go back to 2% milk and see if theres a difference. My son had a bad rash too you just gotta switch things up til you figure out whats wrong. My problem was the tap water, I wasnt boiling it well.

The milk has too much fats on it this is why you have to be careful with milk. I would stope the whole milk either go back to formula or try 2% but probably formula. Then no more baths for a while, try to air out his booty and put light creams on it and be very gentle. Whole milk is a huge switch and his body is telling you he isn't ready yet. Maby try weening him slower from formula start with yogurts and puddings then mixing formula and milk try pedisure. Ect

stop giving him milk NOW. give him back some formula - they have advance stages I think its called Graduates - at least it used to be.

Give him as MUCH diaper free time as you can while it alll clears up.

1 mom liked this

If they are taking forver call, call, call, call, call call until you bother and bug them to death about it! start being mean talking to supervisors etc just make a big ruckus because for them to take forever while your baby is suffering would really send me over the edge

Quoting blackoceanveiw:

I plan on it if they ever call me bk they take forever to return a damn call mean while my baby is suffering

Quoting peggy_sue82:

Take him in to the dr.Its normal for poop to increase when they switch from formula to cows milk.I heard that rubbing maylox works on diaper rash

My son couldn't have whole milk because it constipated him really bad so he has to drink 2%. I don't know why one milk does it but the other doesn't. I would just keep giving him the 2%. He does need to have air time for his butt so that it dries enough for a little sits bath to not hurt. Keep ointment on him when he is in a diaper so that pee does not sit directly on the rash. It most likely has turned to yeast but until you can get a hold of the doctor this is all I can think for you to do.

Did you wean him by doing 1/4 formula, 3/4 milk for a few days, then 1/2 and 1/2, etc?

Get some Lotrimin (in the foot care aisle) and put on his diaper rash.

He could be reacting to the milk fat...you took him from a lower fat to a higher fat and that could be the issue.  If it is giving him issues...then drop back down to the 2% and substitute yogurt or another milk based food item...ie cheese...so he still gets the fat he needs...but his body will process it differently
