I used to get huge "dime sized" ulcers in my mouth as a young child due to a vitamin deficiency. Anyway, alum hurts like hell when applied to a painful ulcer. It basically burns it to the point the pain is completely gone within 20 seconds and it never hurts again. So I can attest to the fact that it works! It healed within days too. I do remember not wanting anyone to know I had one but they were so painful I couldn't even eat. The thought of the alum being applied was horrifying, but it works miracles!
Which vitamin was you deficiant in? My son gets them all the time and I have had him to the dr ofr it but they never said anything like that! Just told him to quit eating so much acidic foods. (at the time, he ate alot of lemons and grapefruit!)
