Hello Moms,

My little boy is going into 2nd grade this year, and they have started this thing that we can not bring snacks that that have peanuts, coconut and green pea allergies.

Does anyone know any snacks, (Fruits, Cookies,Cakes, ECT) that doesn't have these things in them.

This is the first we've ever had to deal with this so I hope someone knows.

Thanks,
Evelyn

I have had to deal with this for the last few years at my daughters school.I understand why they do it but its hard finding stuff without some of those ingredients especially when you cant bring fresh fruit either. Ask for them to send home a list of things that are acceptable. Is it just coconut or coconut oil? They put coconut oil in a lot of things.

All the paper said was a student in the school had severe peanut, coconut and green pea allergies.Strict avoidance of these food and those foods containing any form of these items is the only way to prevent a life threating allergice reaction. And it also mentions Peanut Oil could be a hidden ingredient. Someone even said Animal Crackers have peanuts in them or something I couldn't hear well.

I am just imagining how popular a kid would be who brought in green peas for a snack.....\

seriously, can you just bake some muffins?

why don't you send him an apple, orange, or banana? Why does he need to have that sugary processed mess to begin with?

Least you KNOW what's in them

That stuff isn't terribly difficult to steer clear of. Peanuts is a little harder cuz a lot of stuff is made in factories with peanuts, but you would be better off baking it yourself than buying it.

Everyone in his class brings a snack once a mth. It includes a drink / snack. Not all kids eat healthy and not all kids eat junk. I simply asked if anyone knew of any foods to stay clear of or simply didn't have those things in them and foods that were ok. This is the first year we've had to deal with this due to our school combining with another.

Are you allowed to send in home baked goods?  I think goldfish crackers are safe of all these ingredients as well as pretzels.

I'm wondering if you can bring home baked goodies and avoid said items when baking.
