Hello Moms,

My little boy is going into 2nd grade this year, and they have started this thing that we can not bring snacks that that have peanuts, coconut and green pea allergies.

Does anyone know any snacks, (Fruits, Cookies,Cakes, ECT) that doesn't have these things in them.

This is the first we've ever had to deal with this so I hope someone knows.

Thanks,
Evelyn

Chocolate chip cookies are safe if you make them. Fruit is usually safe. There is always a risk peanuts are in things. Read labels. If you make from scratch it's easier to know.

Sunbutter is a good alternative to peanut butter, it is made from sunflower seeds and has a similar nutty taste and texture.  You'll have to check the ingredients to see if it has coconut oil, i don't think so but i don't happen to have a jar in the house right now.  It is at least twice the price of the name brand peanut butter though.

Peanuts are fairly easy to avoid if you read labels. Coconut isn't in too much and green peas? That's a new one on me!

Ok, because our local schools are hesitant to allow any home baked goods, or "community treats"....I live in a very large town, and allergies might be greater per capita, we haven't been able to do home baked for a long time.

Grapes, raisins, fruit, and a juice pouch, is about all we are allowed to supply.

Everyone in his class brings a snack once a mth. It includes a drink / snack. Not all kids eat healthy and not all kids eat junk. I simply asked if anyone knew of any foods to stay clear of or simply didn't have those things in them and foods that were ok. This is the first year we've had to deal with this due to our school combining with another.

why don't you send him an apple, orange, or banana? Why does he need to have that sugary processed mess to begin with?

Least you KNOW what's in them

Yeah peanut oil is in a lot of stuff. Homemade is best to avoid it. But you have to read lables for stuff you add too.
