HELP PLEASE

OK so a couple days ago, I was at a friends house, she invited us over, well I had no idea her laptop was on the endtable behind a chair and my one year old tripped over the charging cord and knocked it on the floor, i guess it broke some charging thing on it and she wants me to pay her 100.00 to fix it... my question is , is it my responsiblity to pay her the entire 100.00 for something, that i for one had no clue was there, and why did she not put it up if she knew little kids would be there? Do i have a right to ask her to find out if someone can fix it cheaper? I dont have 100.00 to just give her

It was your kid that broke it, so yes I think you have to pay, or at least buy a new one. If you can buy one cheaper then 100 then ask if that's ok.

If it were me, Id get a couple of estimates and let her know you can't afford what she's asking.

I wouldn't pay it personally and she and I would no longer be friends. This is why I don't have friends without kids as well.
