It's a competitive sport...winning actually IS the goal.
I was cruising through facebook and noticed a status made by the mom of one of my sons baseball teammates. She was basically complaining about her son being "left out" a lot and how she is upset that he never pitched during the season. She went on to say that all anyone cared about was winning the games.
I didn't comment on it, because I can't stand facebook drama. But I have been thinking about this status all day, and really I don't understand people.
In the early years of sports it's all instructional. All the kids play all the positions and there are no play offs...so winning really isn't the goal. The goal is to teach these kids to play the sport.
That doesn't last forever. At some point (with baseball in this area that point is the summer before you are 9) the game changes and becomes a competitive sport. So no, not all kids will get to do everything. The coach will put his aces in places to make great plays.
no child is ever left out though.
What is it about parents today that think that everything has to be fair all the time? There are winners and losers in life....and thats a good thing.
I don't get it.
Make someone happy today, mind your own business.
