All my life I have seen people around me washing(rinsing) the rice before cooking it. We wash the meat as well, so maybe it's a Hispanic thing lol

Always
Try to let air dry as well but if pressed for time, I will pop it into the rice cooker.

Plain white rice, yes.  I but it in a bowl of water and let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse off the water.  It rinses off some of the starch.  I do the same for potatoes.  Peel them, cut them up then leave them in a bowl of water for a few minute.  My family has always done it that way and we are not Hispanic, just country people from the South.

I always wash and trim chicken.  Beef, I'll rinse if it looks "slimy" from the package (I don't know how else to describe it. LOL), but I usually just wipe/dry it off really well with a paper towel.

Yes! Rice needs to be rinsed of all the impurities for it to turn out properly.

My ex's family is Filipino and everyonein his family rinses the rice before they make it. It keeps the startch from browning.
