Will CPS Investigate?

My neighbors daughter accidentally burned her arm w/ a curling iron and she was going to take her to urgent care to prevent an infection.
But then people started scaring her that they would investigate her being a careless mother and she'd risk them even taking her away from  her and blah blah blah.
I told  her that was silly & she should take her in. That even if they did question or investigate her she had nothing to hide & the headache is worth knowing your child will be ok. I told her they wont investigate the burn and she's taking her in to her Dr today... but now I'm beginning to worry if they do question her or notify CPS in any way she's going to somewhat blame me :/

Im trying to convince myself that I'm right and they wont make a huge issue about it, but now I'm second guessing myself.
Anyone know for sure if they will or will not make a big deal out of the accidental burn?
Its on her bicep and the size of about 2-3 quarters.

Oh my, how sad that mothers have to think that way. My son picked up a curling iron 22 years ago and got burned just a little. No er care or anything. I learned my lesson that day to not just unblug it and leave it. I was a new mom. My goodness how sad that you have to think like a perfect parent anymore. No more mistakes. No more learning. You have to know everything right from the get go. This is really sad.

Most likely no not for the burn that can be explained and was clearly accidental. However failure to seek appropriate medical in a timely manner can be grounds for contacting cps. She is better off taking her in to be checked sooner rather then later

Sounds like she has more to hide if she wont take her child to urgent care for a burn on her arm because she's afraid CPS will ask what happened...

There's a difference between "My child was playing and got hurt" and them getting burned w/ a curling iron. My neighbor felt horrible and kept blaming herself for not preventing it. I guess she feels like they're going to question where she was and why the curling iron was accessible to her in the first place. She had unplugged it and turned away for a second and her daughter accidentally tripped on the cord and it fell hitting her arm on the way down. But she feels they will paint a mental picture of her sleeping while her child was playing w/ all sorts of things after everyone keeps telling her they'll investigate. But feel free to keep shaking your head.

It seems like people are so scared of CPS. Are they really that jumpy? I have taken my kids to the doctor for burns, a stubbed toe when the toenail got torn off, a busted lip from running into a coffee table, all kinds of different things and not once did I ever have a conversation or worry about CPS. Kids get hurt all the time because they're curious and don't know any better. Unless you, as a parent, have some serious helicoptering going on, you're never going to keep them from doing stupid stuff. I think that's most of the reason why kids don't know they can't do some dangerous things and don't know how to play safely. If you don't let your kids make mistakes and get a little hurt/scared, they're not going to know something is dangerous. I'm not talking like, let them play with an electrical line or a hot iron or something that could kill them. Let them climb a little too high on the jungle gym, they will learn to be careful. I have to smdh at this post.

She's under 2 so there's not much you can buy over the counter for her.. .plues what if it gets infected?

i don't think so but i wouldn't bother with a dr in the first place.

She was going to take her in and then her cousin first told her about them investigating, then a neighbor told her and it lead to "they can even take her away from you" And being a first time mom, I can understand in a way why she's worried. She still took her in this morning.. Im waiting for her to get home to see how it went

i think it depends on how old the kid is, how bad the burn is, and how long she waited to get the burn treated. otherwise she shouldnt have anything to worry about if it wasnt really bad.

Not for one burn... It's if she keeps coming with the same thing over and over again.

For a small burn, baby Tylenol or baby ibuprofen for pain and bacitracin ointment on a bandaid to prevent infection. Anything too big to cover with a bandaid needs a doctor anyway.

a regular burn cream would be fine and if you keep it clean it won't get infected.
