its nothing spectacular, im a cashier at popeyes, or i was. i work nights, 5-11 during the wk, fridays and saturdays we close, at 12. since ive been there ive called out ONE time, never left early, and i havent complained to them one time about getting breaks only 2 days out of a 14 day pay period even though i probably should. anyways, today about 9:30, 9:45, SO calls my job saying theres something wrong at home and he cant get out of work to check on the kids (who were with their aunts btw) so he asks my manager if i can go and check on them. my manager goes, if she leaves shes quitting. i talk to SO on the phone and hes tellin me DS is having an allergic reaction to something he ate and he needs me to go home to take him to the ER. i tell my manager this and hes set on me not going. so i say what if i go and come back? theyre like how long is it going to take? 10 mins? im like umm no its gonna take longer than that. my son is sick. i tell them ill go and come back as soon as possible. as i leave, my manager goes, id you dont come back tonight, dont come in tomorrow. they call and text me within 10 minutes and are like IF YOU DONT COME IN OR CALL ME WITHIN THE NEXT 5 MINS WE DONT NEED YOU. i actually didnt have my phone on me at that moment, but when i finally check, this is what I see. how can they expect me to put minimum wage over my child? my sick child at that?
on that note, im at the ER with DS, hes been injected with an epi pen, and now we're waiting for a doctor.
