Baby shower by mail?

My SIL and bro just moved to Texas. They're expecting their first child in 57 days. They don't know anyone there yet and all the family is too far to attend, so she is thinking of not having a baby shower. I had this idea of a baby shower by mail. She could send out game books, people can mail it back with a gift and she could still get the party.

My questions:

She thinks it might come off as a greedy way to attract gifts... Would you see it that way? I think it's a way our family that is so spread out can all participate.

Do you have any game ideas we could include in the shower package?

Do a baby shower and have her on skype. Ya all could either send her the gifts and watch her open them or open them for her, show her on skype and then ship them all together. Or do a combo of both. Ya all could still play games and have food. She will still get to see all of you and have fun. :)

I think it's really weird and probably would not participate...just being honest.

I think no matter what you do cafemom members will find it tacky, but if your sister has no body then I would do it. I would participate if one of my family members moved so far away. Maybe she can even wait til all the presents arrive and skype so everyone can watch her open her presents.
