Boy Discovers Whale Vomit Worth $63K *pic*
Icky, but precious: a piece of whale vomit which is worth 63,000 dollars? It seems unbelievable but it’s true.
An 8-year-old boy from the British town of Bournemouth found a piece of whale vomit which has an estimated value of $63,000.
Charlie Naysmith was strolling the Hengistbury Head beach when he found something that looked like a yellow-beige stone with a waxy appearance, reported the Daily Echo.
Helped by his parents, the kid actually found out that stone he discovered on the beach is amber, a substance that is regurgitated or excreted by whales.
Amber is absolutely necessary in the fragrance industry to extend flavors. Therefore 500 g of amber costs $10,000, and the piece that Charlie found is estimated at over $60,000.
The boy is very keen on nature and wishes to use the money earned from selling the amber, for building a shelter for animals.
ETA: I watched the video on the link and it says another couple found the same thing a couple of years back. Theirs was worth almost $295k!!!!
