I am researching colleges now, trying to decide where i want to go to finish my bachelors. One looked very promising.....until i looked at the tuition, that is. Its almost 17,000 per semester! NO WAY! There is no way i could pay for that without putting myself so far into debt that I'd never get back out.
Good Lord, thats six times what the state university charges per quarter. is a piece of paper really worth that much? It had damn well better be cast in platimun, with rubies in every corner. Ok, I officially have sticker shock.

I think I will probably have to. I just thought this one would be nice because it is close to DH's job. Oh well, I have a few more to look at. I am sure one of them will be the right fit.

My best friend is Finishing hers through bama's online program idk how much it is I'm still working on my associates. I would def pick a public state college vs a private one.
I am torn. I want to get a bachelors in english with an emphsis on creative writing, or a BA in creative writing if i can find a college that actually offers it. So I know that having the paper would help me to get a job on some aspects of the feild, but if I want to be published, the best thing for me to do is just write and submit.

Not in this economy. I think private universities are only recognizable when it's Harvard, Yale, etc. Lol. I think just having a degree definitely gives you a leg up and having experience in your field is even going to help you more;)
Personally - I believe that, for her and the carreer she wants, every penny is well worth it. The paper may not be MADE of gold - but it will certainly be WORTH gold.
For some degrees -- I can't imagine paying more than a state school or a community college....and I also believe that college isn't always needed.
I'm not sure where you live, but our state college here is roughly $18,000 per year and that is just for tuition.
I'm not sure if you are considering online schools, but MIT has what is called Open Course Ware.

state university here in WA is about 2500 per quarter. i know there are other fees, but its still a hell of a lot cheaper than the private universities. IDK about online courses. I have taken them before, and I dont do well at all. I tend to leave things until the last minute and then put in the bare minimum to scrape by with a passing grade. Plus, the quality of instruction is much less. If i am going to spend all of that time and money, i'd rather be in a class room
