how do i make dumplings? to go on top of a beef stew in the oven, anyone?
gosh that sounds like a lot of work...someone on here has to know a simple recipe for fluffy dumplings lol
Quoting YeahItsJen:I think there's a recipe on the back of Bisquick boxes. Or go to allrecipes.com, they'll for sure have numerous options!
We use Bisquick and add milk (and eggs I think), then take two spoons and do drop dumplings.
that's what i do...i have no idea what amounts, i just eyeball it till it "looks like a dumpling batter" LOL thicker than pancakes but wetter than bread or biscuits
Quoting Billsbabygirl:For chicken and dumplings I just use flour milk baking powder and salt. Then mix. Then I use a spoon and scoop small spoons into boiling broth. I'm not sure what to do for what you are doing. Sorry
I use a recipe from the back of a baking mix box.
grrrrrr our power keeps going out
There's a recipe on the back of the Bisquick box that are super easy. There's also another super way = canned biscuits! I use canned biscuits a lot of times when I'm in a pinch for chicken and dumplings.
I make dumplings one of 3 ways:
1) Super easy way- take canned biscuits, seperate and quarter, lay on top, bake.
2) easy way- use bisquick following the directions on package, lay on top, bake.
3) most difficult (and my fav)- mix 1 and a half cups self rising flour with 1 cup softened butter until well mixed. add milk slowly until you get a "drop dough" consistancy and then drop on top, bake.
The bake part is weird to me. I've never attempted make dumplings in the oven. I've always done dumplings on the stope top. Hope it works for you!
