How to make a 5 year old sleep through the night in their own bed.....

Finally, after years and long nights, DS goes to bed quickly in his own room!  BUT he still wakes up each night and crawls into bed with me.  I think that this is now just habit of him waking up and not that he is scared or anything.

How do you make your child stay in bed all night long?  Give me some methods to try.

My friend got her daughter a dog to sleep with. It worked.

Duct tape.  Seriously though I used to have one night where we'd all snuggle in the bed and fall asleep.  It was Friday nights.  The rest of the time they stayed in their own beds.  They had to.  If they got in my bed I'd send them back.

Oh momma, I feel for you. My 4 yo has been a good sleeper since about 2. My daughter who is 2 occasionally gets up once but we take her back to bed & tell her firmly its time to go to sleep. I played the nice guy routine... The only thing that works for us has been being firm.

did you get up with them and put them back down?  How did you manage to wake up enough to do it?  I need my game face and plan of action here :)

My dd co slept until age 3. Then she had her bed in our room and would sneak in our bed at night. When she turned 5 we made her room upstairs-new furniture, decor, paint, you name it. She tried for the first week or so to come downstairs but each time I would walk her back up. I finally got tired of doing that everyday and bribed her! Lmao For every day you stay in your bed all night, you can have ice cream for breakfast. Worked like a charm and I haven't had a problem since! The bribery worked for a week and then I just told her she was a big girl and I was proud of her, blah, blah, blah. ALSO, she has a tv in her room that is on all night. The combo of light and low volume talking (I put it on CNN lol) keeps her asleep. GL!

Persistence? When your child comes into your bed you need to send the message that it's not ok. Take your child back to their bed to sleep. It may take time (we put DD back about 10 times one night! And it took a good month to break her of the habit).
