Convertible Car Seats!!!! HELP **ETA

Our 5 month old has outgrown his infant carrier and I was wondering which convertible car seat you use!

I have a small car, 2005 Chevy Malibu. I've looked up the size4me 70 and the Myride and most of them seem really bulky. Or is that just me??

Quoting RobinBright:

Op, lots of variables: is your kiddo on the taller or shorter side, chunky or slender? What size tops fit best right now? That will give an idea of torso height. What car do you drive?

The new Graco Size4Me is the longest lasting RF seat on the market right now. Other popular options are the TrueFit, MyRide, and the Britax seats (Marathon, Roundabout, etc) but they have slightly shorter shells.

I thought the Size4Me was only 40 pounds RF?? The Radian is 45

It is but the Mysize is taller and allows the 1" RULE as opposed to 1.5" for (Diono/SK) so unless you absolutely need the extra 5 its longer lasting.

Yes, the Radian weight limit is higher, but the S4M is taller and only has a 1" rule instead of 1.5" so it should allow more kids to actually meet that limit instead of outgrowing it by height before weight.  Kwim?

I would look at all of them. We used an EvenFlo with my dd. It was RR to 40lbs and FF to 80. You can turn it whenever you feel is right.

Ahhhhh I see! Unless the kid's short I guess. lol

Well I ordered 2 Radians on Friday to fit in my backseat with a maxi cosi bucket for baby that's due in NOvember.

S4M isn't an option so I'm pretty happy with our choice. I like how narrow the Radian is.

Yup, definitely great for narrow spaces!  Just be sure to install with the seatbelt, not the LATCH.  Diono has a REALLY shady reputation as far as their LATCH connectors failing and the company refusing to take responsibility.  100% safe with the seatbelt though!

Congrats on the new little one, I hope you are feeling good and baby is developing well!

I hope Erin grows up to have a good personality, despite her mom having a sucky one...

LMFAO OMG get over yourself

I have no idea what your talking about.  I CLEARLY put a smily face before I even "spoke"  I shared my preference because you said you forget people still use those to show you actually MANY people use them.  Mine went to 35 pounds too but doesn't mean anyone needs to use it that long My DD still at 3 1/2 doesn't weigh that.  She did CLEARLY say infant seat not convertible.  Sorry pointing that out seems to of ruffled your panties so much that you read things into my response that just were not there.  THIS IS BEING SNARKY back at ya.

Quoting erinsmom1964:

:) she said that in the OP clearly AND I had 4 kids the first and last 24 years apart and I used infant carriers with all four.  I LOVE them at first until about 5 months old

Quoting ATG499:

I know, lol. Sometimes I forget people still buy the small infant seats.

Are you sure he's outgrown it?

I recommend you check out the Car Seat Safety group.

???? Really easy to outgrow an INFANT seat

Umm, ok. She said he was in an infant seat, not a small infant seat. So no, not "clearly." There are some that go to 35lbs and 32" now, ya know? (And yes, I know the height "limit" doesn't really matter since it's about torso height and shell above the head.)

I don't know what the second part has to do with anything. That's your personal preference. I only used an infant seat with Adrian for three weeks, so I don't know how I would've felt about it when he was five months old. If I have another child and decide to go with an infant seat for that child, after they get too old to carry in the seat (to and from the house only), I'll just leave the seat in the car like I would a convertible car seat, and still be able to use the seat until s/he outgrew it.

What's with the snarkiness?

I used to think you were a cool person. I don't like you anymore. I know you don't care and blah blah blah, but I thought I'd tell you anyway.

1 mom liked this

Yes they had mentioned that in the Carseat Safety group! I'll probably need advise on seatbelt  installs since we've never done one. lol!

Thank you so much, we are both happy and healthy! :)
