Glitter and sparkle is fun, but it can go too far at SCHOOL.
My friends and I were standing waiting for the school line up (the kids line up and go in all at once). This is k-2. And little girl - maybe 6 or 7 rips off her coat (it's 50 degrees) and she has a tiny tiered glittery tutu skirt that DEFINITELY shows her underwear if she so much a leans a little, suede knee high boots with a slit down the back, and a very thin top with lots of sequins on it. WTH people? It's SCHOOL?! We all quietly gasped, and I just said "OOOOK... I guess somebody doesn't have gym today." WTH are people thinking? Kids do have their own sense of style, but you have to guide them sometimes. "That skirt is a little short, you need to wear some legging under it" or "that's a very pretty top, but it's not for school." Nope... I'm sure her mother was like - oooh! My daughter is going to be so popular in this!
ugh. Go ahead... flame away. We're talking about 6 year olds going to school looking like tramps.

Wow. Thank god I have a son...Why?
nope. i agree!!
thankfully I have all boys, DH would have had a heart attack walking through a little girls section of a store. lol.
I am ok with a little sparkle but I agree with what you said about too short skirts and inappropriate footwear. My dds wear jeans, t-shirts, dresses, shorts, and skirts to school. Everything is very appropriate and never too short. Skirts have biker shorts underneath at all times unless there are shorts built in (love those!). They wouldn't even leave the house otherwise! <<Meaning they wouldn't let me forget if I tried, not that I would! ;) Shorts are also never too short. T-shirts have appropriate designs/pictures on them. Jeans never have holes, etc. They wear tennisshoes everyday unless for pictures then they can change shoes. They always dress according to the weather. Sometimes that means they have a jacket for the mornings. They are stylish but definitely well within dress code. I will not have them go through the humiliation of being called to the office for dress code violation. They also know they are expected to follow the rules, just like everyone else! :)
