Medicaid rewards...chew on this for a while...

So we had an area rep for one one of the states medicaid providers come in and talk to our is what we find out..
Women who get their mammograms are getting 25$ gift cards to someplace.
Moms who keep up their kids appts get vouchers for free groceries..
And if they get physicals on time a fucking xbox!!!
Oh boy are our doctors steaming mad, not only do we help pay for the insurance, but now we are buying xboxes and giving gift if just getting free medical care isn't enough.
I had to get a job and save my $ to buy my ds an xbox.for his bday...and then I couldnt afford his medication (when I wasnt working) no one wanted to help us with a secondary insurance to help him....
Im.sorry....but I'm pissed, our patients have tattooes, lots of jewerly
and most dress well is
going On?

There has to be a church in your area that may help. Most nondenomination churches will help you find one. Just wanted to let you know...and in most of those churches you wouldn't have to be a member or even attend or even believe in God at all.

It's disgraceful and I am so glad I am on SSDI and a pension. My medical covers almost everything I need.

However, dh, our 2daughters and myself are trying to find a used quicky manual chair for our friend, at the moment sheis using the same broken down one shes had for the past 15yrs and not sure how much longer it will last.

Quoting lifeisajoy:

I agree my adult son on medicaid for he has cerebral palsy, in a wheelchair, developmental delayed (toddler/pre-school level) and gastrological issues and eye issues and they don't pay for besides 7 dollars of his frames and it is like fighting tooth and nail to get the equipment for him--

Quoting Sassy01:

I think it's disgusting. Medicaid has the money to do shit like that but yet turns around and refuses to pay for a wheelchair for a friend of ours who is a parapalegic? This same friend is pretty much blind because she needs glasses and our medicaid here does not cover optical care for those who are disabled?. But yet if you are under 17, they will pay for optical.

I understand the need for Medicaid for families in need, but I do not think they should be bribed to go to the doctor.  Sadly it may be cheaper in the long run if they can get people in for preventative and regular care instead of waiting until they are so sick they require an inpatient stay that costs thousands.  No bashing required ladies I am not saying EVERYONE on Medicaid or assistance is not using the benefits appropriately.

Agree, same here, I have a husband who is in a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy, but still works as a salesman. I also have a special needs daughter who has medicaid because no other insurance would cover her. I worked full time when she was little, and my work insurance would cover her shots and nothing else. But we don't  get any kind of rewards for taking our children to the doctor. Some of them I could see, like the groceries, but not the X-box. The only reason why I say this is I sometimes have to travel 2-3 hrs for my daughter to see a specialist. Used to be able to use medical transport/ milage reimbursement but they are making that incredibly difficult to use that program. So I could see them not wanting to take food out of a family's budget inorder to cover the gas/transport cost of the appointment. We work, I go to school and only qualify because my daughter has many health problems. People don't always qualify because they don't work, are lazy etc. I'm very grateful for the healthcare for my daughter.

The incentives are not across the board.  This is a State by State issue, and I know my State doesn't offer incentives.  The small amount of time we were eligible a few years ago, no incentives were offered, and I'm pretty sure (due to a few people I know on it) they still don't offer incentives..  I'd have laughed in their face for even suggesting such a thing.  So, there isn't anything to "chew on" here.  Take it up with your State Representatives.
