Oh no our Wii broke

I feel so bad for the kids, our Wii broke.  It stopped reading the games.  We are debating getting a refurbed one for $85 or trying to get our hands on a new Wii U.  I hate to buy the refurbed one, when it is going to be obsolete in another year or so.

What would you do?

Look for sales on Black Friday. Walmart in our area has a Wii for $85 on Black Friday.

I would save for a Wii U, and in fact will try to surprise my hubby with one in the next several months. Here's the thing about new consoles: It's always a bad idea to buy them brand new. They will inevitably have bugs, recalls, and kinks that leave the first batch botched and not up to snuff. After several months, the kinks have been worked out and you can buy a new one that's been manufactured AFTER all the bugs got worked out. But there's really no point in buying a regular wii if you're gonna turn around and get a new Wii U...so my advice is to save towards the Wii U, wait a few months, and then surprise the kiddos with it.
