So my 11 month old is upstairs crying. It's bedtime. I've fed him, changed his diaper we played he's rubbing his eyes. Should I let him cry it out or should I try and put him to sleep. What do you think? Why or why not?.

Ummm - babies communicate needs through crying.

Obviously, his needs are not met.

Why don't you put yourself to sleep through crying hysterically until you are too exhausted to continue before doing that to a helpless child?

letting a kid cry isn't a mean thing to do to a "helpless child"...

hmmm, I have 2 kids (21 and 8 YEARS old) so think I do have some bit of experiene since i've kep them alive this long. crying never hurt any kid that I know of in my 42 years on this planet. how about your 20-something years with only 5 or so in the adult world of having children?

Lol- you may want to hold back on your assumptions there. We are similar ages. (But thanks for the laugh.)

I also have children beyond the CIO ages.

I have never regretted NOT doing CIO with them. Miraculously, they learned to self soothe just fine without being left behind in a room to cry.

Nice guessing there on your part about random strangers- totally off base - but nice try. :)

I'd maybe try and rock him to sleep for a few minutes...sometimes a few cuddles are all they need.

I have never let my children cry like that. Its sad thinking of a baby crying and nobody helps them. I could never do that.
