Why would a woman not take on her dh's last name?. If they are married

Posted by   + Show Post

I know some women may get married.  But then choose to not take the dh's last name.  If you love the man enough to marry him.  Why wouldn't you take his last name?  My sister got married to dh 3 December  2011.  Summer of 2012 moves to the state he is from with her kids.  She getsa job there.  But goes by her maiden last name.  Not the last name she had from dh 2 father of all her kids.

Maybe they feel their last name defines who they are.  Some women are professionals and are known by a certain last name, have all of their certifications, licenses, diplomas, etc...under that last name.  It is a package deal.

Not taking someone's last name or taking someone's last name has nothing to do with "love"....lol.

because:

1. they like their own name better

2. they don't want to go through the hassle of a name change

3. they don't want to deal with the whole this was my name b/f now its.....

Re: if he loves her enough to marry her why doesn't he change HIS last name to hers...

seriously that is a custom that is NOT TRUE IN ALL COUNTRIES and it was begun during the times when MEN were considered to be the "owners" of their wives.... so yeah I can think of a LOT of reason to NOT do it.
