Waiting to have a miscarriage...UPDATE

I had my first ob appt tues and ultrasound Wednesday. I should be 10 weeks but they saw no fetal parts on the ultrasound just the sac and they did external and trans vag. The dr told us that I would need to have a d&c or take the pill to have my body get rid of the contents. I wasn't quite ready to do either. We left the hospital confused and overwhelmed with grief. The drew my blood there to check hcg level and called me that evening and told me it was 128,548 which is viable for an 8-12 week pregnancy so they don't understand what is going on. I'm supposed to go back mon o have hcg checked again to see if its going down. I have not ever seen or heard of anybody's hcg being this high. I've just been waiting to have a miscarriage the last 3 days. I don't know what else to do obviously I don't want that to happen but I do not want a d&c either and it would be a miracle if there was a baby there at the next ultrasound. So I'm praying I miscarry on my own or the miracle happens and the levels have not dropped and that there is a baby with a heartbeat. Having to wait to find out what's going on is killing me. It is even harder because 3 of my very close friends are pregnant 2 are due in feb and their baby showers are both in a couple weeks and the other is due in may and I have to work with her daily. I just had to go shopping today for baby shower gifts too. So this really sucks.

Update: I had blood drawn this morning and they called me this evening, My levels dropped some 15,000 but not a very significant drop. they went from 128,548 on wednesday to 113,388 today. Talked to my dr at cub scouts tonight he said he just heard about it right as he was leaving work today so late this evening, he asked how I was doing I told him I was fine he said kind of I said no im really ok I just really want to know whats going on. He said the levels dropping are not a good sign for a healthy pregnancy but since they didn't drop enough to tell yet we still don't know. He told me to come in the end of the week and have them checked again. I told him I made an appt. with Dr. Ferrer for next tuesday because that is what you would have told me to do lol. He said that's good but still come in the end of the week so that we have 3 different levels to go off of not just 2. So there is an update. Still no bleeding. Still cramping pretty good off and on.

A molar pregnancy will cause HCG levels to be high and no fetus on the ultrasound.

Molar pregnancies cause abnormally high hcg levels (the ops were normal for her gestation) and can be seen on ultrasound.

I know. I've read so much about it and so many different possibilities of what it could be. I'm sure there is no baby that's why I'm just waiting for a miscarriage. A molar I think is the worst of them all.

My friend had a molar pregnancy and this is what happened to her. I really hope that you have a healthy baby in there. Prayers either way.

2 moms liked this
I am going to call and make an appt with the specialist on Monday but will still go have my blood drawn at the clinic here and see what the hcg levels have done over the last 5 days. It just sucks to have to wait for something that is so huge. I will not do a d&c or take any pills until I see the specialist

They don't always cause high HCG levels. A molar pregnancy would be visible on ultrasound, but would not look like a fetus. It would be a clump of undifferentiated cells, due to the implanted embryo having no genetic imformation. I was trying to be concise.
