"Dear God, please let that never be me."

My husband is reenlisting. I pray a LOT.

You're more than welcome!

This made me think of something that happened the other day at Panda Express. I took my kids there to eat and my youngest loves dogs. Well this older gentleman came in with a service dog and ordered his food and sat down.

My son kept asking me if we could go pet the dog. I looked a little closer and noticed that he was a veteran. On his service dogs harness were a bunch of badges (I think that is what they are called)

Anyways after we were done eating I went up to him and asked him if he was in the service and he said "Yes Ma'am, I was" with a big smile on his face. So I shook his hand and told him Thank You. The look on his face made me get all teary eyed.

I walked out of there trying not to start crying.

My DH deployed 3 times during his 11 years in the Army, so this vividly reminds me of what I would do every time I thought of him while he was away. I would grab a clothing item of his (usually a bdu jacket like the picture, or pt shirt) and just wear it, so it would feel as though he was right next to me. Thankfully, those days are behind us, but I'm grateful for them because that time away made us more appreciative of eachother, and our bond has never been stronger.
